District heating, Arera approves the social bonus for families in economic difficulty

The Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment (Arera) has approved a social bonus for district heating aimed at economically disadvantaged families. Eligible households with an ISEE of up to €9,796, or €20,000 for families with four or more children, will receive an average reduction of about 15% in their heating costs. The bonus will be available until October 2027, with the first payment covering both 2026 and 2027. The amount of the bonus will be calculated based on the family's climatic zone, number of members, and usage type. This initiative complements existing social bonuses for water, electricity, gas, and waste services.
