The price gap has widened: the difference between petrol and diesel is now nearly 100 forints

In Hungary, diesel fuel is now nearly 100 forints more expensive than gasoline, following a decrease in the average price of 95-octane gasoline. As of November 4, the average price of 95-octane gasoline dropped by 5 forints to 633 forints, while diesel remained at 726 forints. The price difference has increased to 93 forints per liter, resulting in an additional cost of 4650 forints for filling a typical 50-liter tank with diesel compared to gasoline. Due to a diesel shortage in Europe, product imports have nearly ceased, giving MOL significant market power as a wholesaler. As the largest retailer, MOL's prices serve as a benchmark, but it remains uncertain how long these lower prices can be sustained.
