They wanted to extort millions from a woman again, but instead of money, the police were waiting for them.
The Gödöllő District Prosecutor's Office has charged two women with attempted aggravated fraud for trying to deceive a victim into transferring millions of forints. The victim was contacted by an unknown man posing as a bank employee, who convinced her to transfer nearly 7 million forints and hand over her savings in securities. On February 5, 2026, the two women traveled from Ukraine to Budapest to collect the victim's savings. However, the victim had already reported the incident to the police, who arrested the women at the agreed meeting place. The prosecutor's office is seeking a custodial sentence and disqualification from public affairs for the defendants, with the Gödöllő District Court to decide on their guilt.
