ULS Gaia/Espinho tests new lung cancer screening
The TIME4LUNG project aims to enhance lung cancer screening accessibility and reduce costs through a two-step model involving blood tests and low-dose CT scans. Led by the Portuguese startup iLoF, the initiative includes ULS Gaia/Espinho and other partners. The current lung cancer screening model faces sustainability challenges due to limited resources. The new approach seeks to democratize access and minimize patient complexity while ensuring effective early detection. The project has a budget of €8.7 million, with significant funding from Portugal 2030. It is currently in the recruitment phase and aims for clinical implementation within three years.
