In the video, Hungarian Gripens escort the threatened passenger plane
On Friday morning, Hungarian Gripen fighters were alerted multiple times due to bomb threats against three civil passenger flights. The first alert occurred at 9:48 AM for an Airbus A321 flying from Brussels to Sofia, which was intercepted near Kaposvár. After leaving Hungarian airspace towards Serbia, NATO ordered air patrols near the Serbian border. Between 10 and 11 AM, two more flights from Prague were threatened, heading to Cyprus and Bucharest, which also prompted NATO air patrols near the Hungarian-Romanian border. The Prague airport spokesperson indicated that the new threats involved a larger number of explosives. This week saw several bomb threats against passenger flights, starting with a Wizz Air flight on Monday, which was escorted by a Gripen fighter to Budapest. On Tuesday, multiple airports in Europe were closed, and on Thursday, ten flights received bomb threats.
