Constitutional change. Is the constitutional reset project feasible?
The recent proposal by Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz aims to amend the Polish Constitution to address the crisis surrounding the Constitutional Tribunal. This constitutional change requires support from at least 307 MPs, but the current distribution of seats makes this unlikely. The proposal must first pass through the Sejm and then the Senate, with a minimum two-thirds majority needed for approval. Currently, the coalition supporting the reset consists of only 53 votes, far from the required majority. The opposition from the Civic Coalition and the Left further complicates the situation, making the constitutional reset nearly impossible in the current parliamentary term.
